Gen. de Gaulle lane closure planned this week

A portion of Gen. de Gaulle drive’s eastbound lane will be closed temporarily this week to make room for the ongoing drainage canal improvement project, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ New Orleans District has announced.

A 300-foot section of the inside, or left lane will be closed beginning at the James W. Hibben Memorial Bridge, at Holiday Drive, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday (Dec. 16) through Friday (Dec. 19).

The reason, according to the Corps of Engineers, is “to allow for the safe unloading of trucks necessary for ongoing construction activities.”
